Sarah Atherton from LEPS (Langley Environmental Partners Society) came to our classroom to do a presentation on how to identify products in our homes that are harmful to us and our pets.
Flammable Poison Explosive Corrosive
(catches on fire) (toxic if swallowed) (can explode) (eats away at your skin)
Once the students became familiar with the symbols, they became detectives identifying where certain products can be found and looked at several hazardous products to see which symbols are found on products. We also made a natural cleaner that can be used in place of more harmful cleaners. Here's the recipe:
Coho Cleaner
1 cup of water
1/2 cup of vinegar
1/4 teaspoon of essential oil
1/2 teaspoon of dish soap
Mix together in a spray bottle.
